Colombo, 10.05.2024: A stone’s throw from Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is Park Street Mews, a series of old restored warehouses hosting bustling eateries, bars, nightlife and private events. Within the cobblestone-lined street is Uncle’s Colombo, a lively bar where people come together every night to relax over drinks, socialize and enjoy entertainment.
This intimate venue regularly hosts live acoustic bands, vinyl nights and disco music sessions. Gehan Fernando, who operates the multipurpose venue, said: “We attract a diverse crowd, and one of the reasons people flock to Uncle’s Colombo every night is the mix of music we offer. This requires a certain standard of audio equipment which we didn’t have before.”

The selected speakers also needed to occupy a small physical footprint, which meant the risk of audio crossover.
These limitations led to Void Acoustics’ Venu 10 v2 speakers with a stunning custom bare wood finish and a chic brown grille. The Venu 10 v2s were paired with the Venu 210i subwoofer for an impeccable, deep, rich bass.

The bar’s compactness meant balancing the need for sufficient audio coverage and clarity, which took careful planning and strategic speaker placement for optimal sound distribution and quality.
The results were instantaneous once this puzzle was solved, and the customer experience was elevated to new heights. The bar’s clientele can now speak to each other comfortably, enjoy the bustling atmosphere, revel in live music and ignore any noise outside the bar.
